As one of the world’s hottest supermodels, Gigi Hadid knows a thing or two about the industry. She’s been seen marching down the most coveted catwalks of the most in-demand designers, blowing onlookers away with her killer looks and gorgeous personality. But when it comes to competition, Gigi shows no fear, speaking to Harper’s Bazaar about the truth about the wonderful world of modeling.
‘If they want Kendall [Jenner], they’re not going to want someone who looks like me,’ she told the magazine. ‘It’s completely different. I think friendships are a lot more valuable than one job. If you’re going to let it ruin that, then that’s stupid.’
The model’s career hasn’t always been rainbows and butterflies.
‘I will be the first to say, when I started, I was the worst on the runway ever,’ she said. ‘I feel like I try to keep learning every time I step off a runway, I try to get better with each one.’
Gigi’s younger sister Bella is quickly making a name for herself in the modeling world, surely helped along by the advice of her big sister. The biggest tidbit she passed on? “Be nice to people…Be someone people want to work with because if people don’t like working with you it’s just not going to work out,’ the model explained.
And when it comes to social media, Gigi’s star power can’t be denied.
‘I post pictures that I want to post and say what I want to say,’ she said. ‘If that’s three times a day or three times per month then whatever.’
‘My biggest thing about being a role model is whatever I’m preaching, I’m practicing,’ she said. ‘If I’m telling people I’m boxing and then I’m eating a burger tonight, it’s because I am.’
